I've never been crazy about my "quick sketch" caricatures...

essentially...what's being produced is a "fast food" piece of art...at the locations I work at (in WDW) the name of the game is "numbers"...the more you draw the more you make...

especially when it's busy and there's a line of people...you don't have time to be artistic when you want to draw everybody...however, if it's slow--go ahead and let the creative juices flow

I teeter/totter on the edge of attempting to make all the caricatures the "same" and "different" at the same time

some artists can be fast, but the faces are all formulaic and cookie cut-out...it's the same face with different hair or color

to make a long story short...I don't like to display my "fast work" because I DON'T like to say "look at this--huh?...pretty good, right?"--when it's not a good representation of my ability

maybe I'll leave more...(shrug)

I understand completely what you mean. I have the same feelings about my live caricatures. I like to work in my studio from photos, I can get such a better likeness. I run a sign shop too, and I am faced with the "lineup" there daily also. As artists, we all want everything we do to be that "work of art" whether it is a caricature done live or a cookie cutter sign job.

However, I am inspired by your "quick" work. I hope that is some encouragement to post more.
